Marbling is a labor-intensive process but actually comes to you ready to use: all fabrics are preshrunk and heat-set for color-fastness, so no need to pretreat. (If you're worried about that heirloom piece you're working on, pretreat in a gentle hand-wash.) We aim to cut material on the grain. Every ten yards that we cut off a bolt, we tear to get the straight of grain. When we pretreat, we cut extra to allow for shrinkage, and in that way you get as close to the yardage as you ordered. Large pieces are serged before pretreating to prevent raveling and stray threads that can create "lines" in the marbling process.

Sampler Package 1: $9.50 (assorted colors and patterns) Eight 6" x 9" hand-marbled swatches on white and/or colored cottons; perfect for piecing, applique, patchwork. You get a variety of marbled colors and patterns so you get a "taste" of this wonderful art form.

Sampler Package 2: $30.00 (assorted colors and patterns) Four 18" x 22" hand-marbled fat quarters on white Pima cotton for a more subdued and muted look. Another great stash builder. Available in the following colorways: volvano reds/oranges, underwater blues, deep woods, pinks/purples.

Sampler Package 3: $12.50 (assorted colors and patterns) Six one-yard pieces of hand-marbled 7/8" silky-satin ribbon, perfect for embellishments and small projects. We use Offray ribbon exclusively and achieve some spectacular effects. Great for gift wrapping and ribbon embroidery. (You can order customized 1.5 inch, 2 inch, 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch ribbon for other projects.)

Sampler Package 4: $15.00 (assorted patterns and colors) Eight 10" x 10" squares, 100% cotton, for those larger block patterns you want to create. Hand-marbled swatches on white and/or colored cottons; perfect for piecing, applique, patchwork.

Silk Sampler 5: $30.00 Two half-yard pieces of silk. Can be a variety of colors or all one color family - you choose! For those who want to add elegance to their projects.
